Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

Since its inception, GS Group has firmly believed in giving back to the society from which it has rightfully earned. To uphold this belief, it established the GS Charitable Trust.

GS Charitable Trust has donated substantial amounts for various causes aimed at the betterment of society.

A. For Educational Purposes:

The Trust has made significant contributions to the Deccan Education Society, which runs:

  • Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce (BMCC), Pune
  • Fergusson College, Pune
  • Chintamanrao College, Sangli
  • Willingdon College, Sangli

Deccan Education Society also manages a school named Kantilal Purshottam Shah Prashala, named after Kantilal Purshottam Shah, the fifth generation of the GS Group.

Additionally, GS Group is a major contributor to Govindram Shobharam High School in Vasai Dabhala, Gujarat, which provides education to 1,500 children at a nominal fee of Rs. 10 per year.

The Trust has also donated to a B.Ed. College run by Sangli Shikshan Sanstha, where a hall is named after Purshottam Das Shah, the fourth generation of the group.

Other donations in educational institutions include:

  1. Navagam Visanagar Vanik Samaj for Saraswati Karyakari Yojana
  2. Shikshan Prakashak Mandal, Kurundwad
  3. Concern India Foundation
  4. Jain Social Federation for Education (Non-Corpus Fund)

 

B. For Medical Purposes:

GS Charitable Trust has donated substantial amounts to Shri Siddhivinayak Ganpati Cancer Hospital in Miraj, which specializes in cancer research and care. A dedicated wing in the hospital is named after Kantilal Shah, representing the fifth generation of the GS Group.

  4. Jankalyan Samiti for COVID-19 Relief Fund

  7. Shri Nagam Visanagar Vanik Samaj for COVID-19 Relief Fund
  8. Maharogi Seva Samiti, Varora
  9. Janseva Vishwast Mandal (Arogya Kendra, MDVR)

 

C. For Other Social Causes:

Whenever society has faced challenges, GS Charitable Trust has stepped forward to help.

  • During floods in Sangli city, the Trust distributed free blankets, rice, pulses, and other essential supplies to affected families.
  • During COVID-19, the Trust donated substantial amounts to two COVID-19 relief funds (mentioned in the medical section).
  • The Trust has also supported blood banks, old-age homes (Vrudhashram), shelters for cows (Gaushala), and various social initiatives.
